Recipe: Post Workout Smoothie

What do you need to do after sweating and working out? Let’s talk electrolytes…

The major electrolytes found within the body include calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, phosphate and chloride. These crucial nutrients help stimulate nerves and balance fluid levels. We all need that! An electrolyte imbalance can cause a variety of serious negative symptoms if not addressed.

Sweating leads to a loss of electrolytes and therefore refueling and replacing those electrolytes is important. Your homeostasis or your stable internal environment in your body is counting on it!

Your very best source of electrolytes doesn’t come from those sugary electrolyte drinks from the stores, but instead from coconut water. It’s the number one drink to have after a workout.

A smoothie full of fruits and vegetables is another excellent way to refuel and replenish your body. It doesn’t hurt to add in a pinch of high mineral sea salt as well. Try this yummy smoothie and you can relax knowing that you’re balancing your body!

How to Make It:

  • Kale/spinach or chard

  • Unsweetened coconut or almond milk
